Hilary’s Millet Medleys

Millet is an ancient grain that is suited to growing in semi-arid regions of the world. Unlike wheat it can be used to create a wealth of gluten-free dishes. The grain along with amaranth and other non-wheat sources is a hot trend at the moment because of the desire for gluten-free products and a certain novelty in grains which is also evident in breads and other savoury products. Millet has been used in African, especially sub-Saharan cuisine because its fiber content supports good digestion and improved transit times compared to wheat. These savoury dishes build on the more traditional rice dishes including pilafs with a colourful flavour range , packaged in handy-size microwaveable pouches. The fab four line up are:- Golden Curry, Fresh Greek, Traditional Herb, and Savory Mushroom.

Dishes like these are used in the same way as rice, to provide a comfortable side dish or base for other sauces or to accompany meat or salads. Vegetarians should note that all four are suitable for their dietary requirements.  In keeping with the ethos of the business, only real ingredients with few if any artificials are added, and a low allergen footprint is kept to.

The Products.

• Traditional Herb: juicy carrots, peas, and white beans pair with fresh herbs like parsley and thyme for a classic blend

The emphasis from the ingredient list is of good quality ingredients with grain millet at the core, pulses which provided substantial protein and various organic vegetables suffused with distinctive herbal concoctions to reinforce the ethnicity in the dishes.
