Ylang Ylang oil is reckoned to be one of the top ten selling essential oils globally. It is sold for its highly sensuous and soothing properties possessing a floral exotic aroma which is not found amongst other plant oils. The oil is found in many products for calming and reducing anxiety, reducing anger, nervous tension and irritability or relieving emotional stresses and strains.

The plant originally came from Indonesia and was praised for its sweet, soft, perfumed and floral fragrance. The petals are strewn onto the marriage bed where they induce a certain calmness (presumably before the storm)!

The oil is distilled from flowers of the Cananga odorata tree or just Cananga Tree which is grown mainly in Madagascar, although the Phillipines, Indonesia and Malaysia are also main centre s of production. The oils find their way into cosmetic and hair products and have been applied for centuries throughout south-east Asia.

The oil blends exceptionally well with grapefruit, some citrus oils, bergamot and patchouli. It is a component in Chanel No. 5.

  1. If you like ylang ylang oil than go for ecodrop. It is one of those intensely sweet and spicy scents that excites everybody. Ecodrop deliver a really nice quality oil. I think rivals frankincense in my view. Will definitely buy more and will also get some more of their products. Just love it !
