Panchamrita is an important type of food, notably 5 sweet foods used mainly in Hindu, Jain and puja worship. It is commonly an offering during pooj post. The mixture is usually prepared from a set of ingredients as described below which are used to ‘bathe’ or anoint icons that represent a divinity especially shiva. It is viewed as a form of sanctification as well as a reassertion or promotion of the immortal essence of that deity being worshipped.
