The multipurpose Camellia oleifera oil offers amazing benefits for skin and hair. It is known that Geishas kept their skin soft, supple and young using this oil heavily.

The seeds are collected from a small tree or shrub which grows to 8m high in the world but only to 2m when cultivated. The plants are commercially grown in south-east Asia especially western Japan. Here the winters are cold yet dry so the plant flowers throughout the winter and even when it has snowed from January to February.

You might see Camellia oil called ‘tea seed oil’ which leads to confusion with ‘tea tree oil’.
