  • We look at five new snacks based on nuts roasted with various seasonings for that WOW factor !

Food Matters Live always showcases some fascinating brands and one that is worth going nuts or fruit loopy for is Zeina Foods . I’m sure they’ve heard every nut pun in the book but when you have sampled their nutty fare you cannot fail to be impressed by the taste and the quality.

In food circles, it’s become one of those well established, highly respected brands and they have built on this reputation for being suppliers of packaged dried fruit and nut products. These include dried figs and various nut products as raw materials for baking or turning into granola and bars.

If it’s snacks you are looking for then it’s worth just checking out a range of five ‘delicious’ nut products all ‘lovingly roasted with’ some seasoning. These were displayed at the show for all to try out.

Zeina’s Products

The five products showcased were almonds with black pepper, pistachios with sea salt or with smoked chipotle, cashews and almonds with a spicy barbecue flavour. Finally but not least, cashews with spicy barbecue. These are classic seasoning combinations and they bring out the best in flavour of nuts. The products literally tell the consumer these are ideal for entertainment especially on festive occasions.

The almonds with black pepper have that distinctive smooth nutty note with is overlaid by the spiciness and pepper flavour with a slight lemon tint. This raises what is often a subtle flavoured nut into one with real party zest. Sea salt is probably the automatic choice of seasoning for a pistachio – nothing brings out the flavour so well. You cannot really tire of that delicious savouriness.

The spicy barbecue seasoning is very well balanced, offering just the right amount of heat with a slight sweetness/salty/savoury combo. Smoke is much in evidence with this flavour too.  What really hits you is the chili heat spiking the back of the throat – an in a nice way.  This spicy barbecue flavour takes the cashew which is already regarded by many as a delicious nut to the next level – appropriate moreishness. For those who really enjoy a chili spiciness then smoky chipotle is worth examining with the pistachio. This seasoning is become one of the trending flavours and I often associate it with Mexico or the southern States of the USA such as Arizona or New Mexico.

  1. What a find ! Saw these at Food Matters last year and haven’t stopped buying them. At least I can buy them through Amazon. The chipoytle flavour is their best one closely followed by the spicy barbecue. What flavour ! I know I sound like a marketing geek but they really have got the flavours spot on with these. Just hope they keep going !
