How to Make Atta Laddu

Atta Laddu, a popular Indian sweet made with whole wheat flour:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour (atta)
  • 1 cup ghee (clarified butter)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (such as almonds, cashews, or pistachios)
  • 1 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • 1 tablespoon raisins (optional)

Preparation:

  1. Heat a heavy-bottomed pan on low heat and add the ghee. Allow it to melt completely.
  2. Add the whole wheat flour (atta) to the pan and roast it on low heat. Keep stirring continuously to ensure even browning and to prevent it from burning. Roast until the flour turns golden brown and releases a nutty aroma. This process may take around 12-15 minutes.
  3. Once the flour is roasted, remove the pan from the heat and let it cool for a few minutes.
  4. Add the powdered sugar, chopped nuts, cardamom powder, and raisins (if using) to the roasted flour. Mix well to combine all the ingredients.
  5. Take a small portion of the mixture in your hand and try to shape it into a ball. If it holds together, the mixture is ready. If it crumbles, add a little more melted ghee and mix well until the mixture can be easily shaped into balls.
  6. Once the mixture is ready, take a small portion in your hand and gently press it together to form a laddu or round ball shape. Repeat this process with the remaining mixture.
  7. Allow the atta laddus to cool completely at room temperature for about 1-2 hours. This will help them set and hold their shape.
  8. Your Atta Laddus are now ready to be served. Enjoy these delicious and nutritious sweet treats!

Note: You can store the Atta Laddus in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1-2 weeks.
