Roast Pork Chow Mein

Here’s a recipe for Roast Pork Chow Mein for two.


Ingredients

For the Roast Pork:

  • 200g roast pork, sliced thinly
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1/2 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1/2 tbsp honey
  • 1/2 tbsp vegetable oil

For the Chow Mein:

  • 150g chow mein noodles
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 1/2 bell pepper (red or green), julienned
  • 1 carrot, julienned
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 50g bean sprouts
  • 2 spring onions, chopped
  • 1 tbsp light soy sauce
  • 1/2 tbsp dark soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Equipment Needed

  • Saucepan (for boiling noodles)
  • Large wok or skillet
  • Cutting board and knife
  • Tongs or chopsticks (for tossing ingredients)
  • Small mixing bowl (for pork marinade)
  • Measuring spoons

Preparation

  1. Marinate the Pork: In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, and honey. Coat the roast pork slices in this marinade and set aside for about 10 minutes.
  2. Prepare the Noodles: Cook the chow mein noodles in boiling water according to package instructions (about 3-4 minutes). Drain and rinse with cold water to stop cooking, then set aside.

Cooking

  1. Cook the Pork: Heat 1/2 tbsp of vegetable oil in the wok over medium-high heat. Add the marinated pork slices and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until they are slightly caramelized. Remove from the wok and set aside.
  2. Stir-Fry the Vegetables: In the same wok, add the remaining oil. Add the onion, bell pepper, carrot, and garlic, and stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until the vegetables begin to soften.
  3. Combine: Add the noodles to the wok along with the pork, bean sprouts, and spring onions. Toss everything together.
  4. Season: Pour in the light soy sauce, dark soy sauce, and sesame oil. Toss until evenly coated and heated through. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Serve: Divide between two plates and serve immediately.
