Inglehoffer – Hottest Mustards About!

Inglehoffer® as a brand name from Beaverton Foods have been making mustards and sauces for nearly a century now. When I think of Oregon this is one of those brands that makes you salivate at the thought of what they can do.

So, Beaverton Foods have been around since 1929.  Rose Biggi began her business bottling horseradish as a sauce in the cellar of her farmhouse to help her family survive the Great Depression. They don’t appear to have ever looked back. The Biggi clan still continue to produce fascinating flavour combinations for condiments.

Two new condiments came to market in the mid 2020s:- Ghost Pepper Mustard and Creamy Sriracha Horseradish from the team at Beaverton Foods, Inc. These are available in the UK and I thought lets give them a whirl.

We noticed the Inglehoffer® Ghost Pepper Mustard and Inglehoffer® Creamy Sriracha Horseradish are available in 10.25-ounce and 9.25-ounce shelf-stable squeeze bottles respectively. In the UK, we had to buy these pots but so what!

Our Review on the Ghost Pepper Mustard

Inglehoffer Ghost Pepper Mustard is a condiment that combines the pungent heat of ghost peppers with the tanginess of mustard. Ghost peppers, also known as Bhut Jolokia, are one of the hottest peppers in the world, with a Scoville rating of over one million units. This mustard is not for the faint of heart, as it packs a serious punch.

The first thing I noticed when I tried this mustard was the heat. The ghost peppers give the mustard a fiery kick that hits you immediately and lingers for a while. It’s not overwhelming, but it’s definitely noticeable. If you’re not used to spicy foods, this mustard may be too much for you. However, if you’re a fan of heat, you’ll love it.

Despite the heat, the mustard has a nice balance of flavors. The mustard seeds and vinegar provide a tangy base that complements the heat of the chilli peppers. The texture is smooth and creamy, which makes it easy to spread on sandwiches or use as a dip for pretzels or crackers.

One thing to keep in mind when using ghost pepper mustard is that a little goes a long way. You don’t need a lot to add some serious heat to your food, so use it sparingly. I found that a small dollop on a sandwich was enough to give it a nice kick without overpowering the other flavors.

I also tried using the mustard as an ingredient in a marinade for grilled chicken. I mixed the mustard with some olive oil, garlic, and lemon juice, and let the chicken marinate for a few hours before grilling it. The result was delicious – the chicken had a nice spicy flavor that was balanced out by the other ingredients in the marinade.

Overall, this is a lovely ghost pepper mustard. It’s definitely not for everyone, but if you’re a fan of spicy foods, you’ll appreciate the heat and flavor that it adds to your meals. It’s versatile enough to use as a condiment or an ingredient, and the natural ingredients and gluten-free label make it a good choice for health-conscious eaters. If you’re looking for a way to add some serious heat to your food, give ghost pepper mustard a try – just be prepared for the heat!

What we thought about the Horseradish.

Inglehoffer® Thick and Creamy Horseradish is a condiment that is perfect for those who love the strong, spicy taste of horseradish. This product is made with high-quality ingredients and is designed to provide a smooth and creamy texture that is perfect for sandwiches, burgers, and more.

One of the things that I appreciated about this horseradish is the texture. It’s thick and creamy, which makes it easy to spread on bread or use as a dip for vegetables. The texture also helps to tone down the sharpness of the horseradish, making it a more pleasant experience for those who find the flavor overwhelming. I love the upfront line on using grated horseradish roots because it should always contribute a sense of fibre.

Ok – not a ‘clean label’ product but that’s to be expected as this type of condiment must be stable over shelf-life and should not turn a rather murky brown either. The gum – xanthan gum is well established for maintaining thickness. Preservatives and the use of EDTA are necessary to stop food spoilage.

The taste of this horseradish is bold and spicy, as you would expect from a high-quality horseradish product. It has a strong, pungent flavor that is perfect for adding some zing to your favorite dishes. However, I found that the creaminess of the horseradish helped to balance out the spiciness, making it more enjoyable to eat.

One thing to keep in mind when using this horseradish is that a little goes a long way. It’s a potent condiment, so you don’t need a lot to add some serious flavor to your meals. I found that a small amount on a sandwich or burger was enough to give it a nice kick without overwhelming the other flavors. This was also tried on some cold beef cuts – nearly made my nose burst!

I also tried using this horseradish as an ingredient in a dip for vegetables like broccoli and carrots. I mixed it with some sour cream and a few other seasonings, and it turned out great. The creaminess of the sour cream helped to mellow out the horseradish, making it more enjoyable to eat with vegetables.

Overall, I really enjoyed Inglehoffer Thick and Creamy Horseradish. I’m never going to say anything bad about either of these two condiments. Let’s face it, this one is a high-quality product that is perfect for those who love the strong, spicy taste of horseradish. The texture is smooth and creamy, and the natural ingredients and gluten-free label make it a good choice for health-conscious eaters. If you’re a fan of horseradish, give this product a try – you won’t be disappointed!
