Cauliflower Cheese Gnocchi Bake

This cauliflower cheese gnocchi bake is a comforting and flavorful dish that serves approximately 4 people. You can of course make your own and we do have a standard recipe for this.

Ingredients:

  • 1 head cauliflower, cut into florets
  • 1 pound (450g) gnocchi – ready made.
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish, optional)

Preparation:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish and set it aside.
  2. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the cauliflower florets and cook for about 5 minutes until tender. Remove the cauliflower with a slotted spoon and set aside.
  3. In the same pot of boiling water, cook the gnocchi according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  4. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for about 1 minute, until it forms a paste.
  5. Gradually whisk in the milk, ensuring no lumps remain. Cook the mixture, stirring constantly, until it thickens and comes to a simmer.
  6. Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in 1 1/2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese until melted and smooth. Add the garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Adjust the seasonings to your taste.
  7. In the greased baking dish, combine the cooked cauliflower, gnocchi, and cheese sauce. Gently mix everything together until well coated.
  8. Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of shredded cheddar cheese over the top of the mixture.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the dish is heated through.
  10. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley, if desired.
  11. Serve the cauliflower cheese gnocchi bake as a delicious main dish or as a side.
