This cauliflower cheese gnocchi bake is a comforting and flavorful dish that serves approximately 4 people. You can of course make your own and we do have a standard recipe for this.
Ingredients:
- 1 head cauliflower, cut into florets
- 1 pound (450g) gnocchi – ready made.
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 cups milk
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish, optional)
Preparation:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish and set it aside.
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the cauliflower florets and cook for about 5 minutes until tender. Remove the cauliflower with a slotted spoon and set aside.
- In the same pot of boiling water, cook the gnocchi according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for about 1 minute, until it forms a paste.
- Gradually whisk in the milk, ensuring no lumps remain. Cook the mixture, stirring constantly, until it thickens and comes to a simmer.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in 1 1/2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese until melted and smooth. Add the garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Adjust the seasonings to your taste.
- In the greased baking dish, combine the cooked cauliflower, gnocchi, and cheese sauce. Gently mix everything together until well coated.
- Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of shredded cheddar cheese over the top of the mixture.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the dish is heated through.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley, if desired.
- Serve the cauliflower cheese gnocchi bake as a delicious main dish or as a side.
