It got me thinking whilst watching and reading about the US NBA basketball finals what fans have for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Odd you might say because I’m sure no-one has ever done any research on this I’m sure but it seemed apt to think about what Boston Celtics fans for example might be tucking into. ‘Fraid to say it’s a bit generic because I’m sure all fans of the game have the same ideas although there must be regional variations. Anyway, this is what I’ve come up with trawling through various US media outlets. You may well disagree!

There are some popular breakfast foods that are commonly consumed in Boston and throughout the New England region, which is where the Boston Celtics are based. Some of these breakfast foods include:

  1. Dunkin’ Donuts: Dunkin’ Donuts is a popular coffee and donut chain that was founded in Massachusetts, which is the home state of the Boston Celtics. Many people in the region enjoy starting their day with a cup of coffee and a freshly baked donut or pastry from Dunkin’ Donuts.
  2. Eggs and Bacon: Like in many parts of the world, eggs and bacon are a popular breakfast choice in Boston and throughout New England. This classic breakfast combo is often served with toast and home fries.
  3. Pancakes or Waffles: Pancakes and waffles are also popular breakfast foods in the region. They are often served with maple syrup, which is produced in large quantities in nearby Vermont.
  4. Bagels: Bagels are another popular breakfast food in Boston and the surrounding areas. They are often served with cream cheese and smoked salmon.

When it comes to lunch, the speculation is even wilder really because I’m sure if I asked a number they would all enjoy widely different styles. When you cover Google Trends it’s then that you appreciate what folks in that area of the East Coast are enjoying.

Some of these lunch foods covered off include:

  1. Lobster Roll: A lobster roll is a classic New England sandwich that is made with fresh lobster meat, often mixed with mayonnaise and served on a toasted roll. It’s a popular lunch option in Boston and throughout the region.
  2. Clam Chowder: Clam chowder is a thick soup that is made with clams, potatoes, onions, and sometimes bacon. It’s a staple of New England cuisine and is often served as a lunchtime dish.
  3. Italian Sub: An Italian sub is a sandwich made with Italian cold cuts, such as salami, ham, and mortadella, along with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and other toppings. It’s a popular lunchtime choice in Boston and throughout the region.
  4. Pizza: Pizza is a popular lunch option in Boston and throughout the United States. There are many pizza places in Boston that serve a variety of styles, from thin-crust Neapolitan pizza to deep-dish Chicago-style pizza.

In the evening, the menu is different again and I think reflects the general cooking of New England. Most of the lunchtime foods double up as evening fare. There is no specific food that Boston Celtics fans eat for an evening meal as it largely depends on their personal preferences and cultural background. However, Boston is known for its seafood, particularly its clam chowder and lobster dishes. Some popular local dishes that Celtics fans might enjoy have already been mentioned but they would include New England-style boiled lobsters, lobster rolls, clam cakes, and fish and chips. Boston also has a strong Italian-American culture, so dishes such as pizza, pasta, and meatball subs are popular options. Additionally, Boston is known for its Irish-American heritage, so traditional Irish dishes such as corned beef and cabbage, shepherd’s pie, and Irish soda bread may also be enjoyed by Celtics fans but I don’t want to sound proscriptive or anything!
