These are one of those box sets that are must for anyone interested in aromatherapy. I know its a bit unusual of this web-site to market such things because they are really cosmetic and non-science in many ways but I had seen some posts on essential oils for preservation recently. I used a few of these products because of what I’d read recently on their web-site. There is no point talking about each oil independently because Radha Beauty do such a good job describing them and there is plenty of useful info. out there anyway on them.

I look at how essential oils need to be tested in the lab as I can’t do this at home. What I’m looking for is quality. The tests are by no means totally true or 100 per cent accurate but I’m fairly confident about the value of the testing regimes. I actually try some of the oil between my fingers and if it feels oily rather than greasy then I feel we have the real deal here. It should not feel like almond oil or jojoba which are carriers for personal care products. The oil should smell like the name of the herb as well. Any off-notes or rancidity and you have a problem. I’ve taken it back to the shops and complained about the quality if I immediately detect a stale or rancid note.

I do what others recommend on Amazon as a ‘paper test’. The basic point here is to put a drop of essential oil onto a white piece of card and see what appearance it creates. If a supplier says “pure, undiluted, therapeutic” essential oils will completely evaporate over night, leaving no oil ring behind” then you should not really see any greasiness after that time. If that isn’t the case then you know there may some adulteration of the sample. By the way check for alcohol – especially if there is a slight odour. Keep in mind though, we all smell materials differently and what smells good to one person will not smell good for another. Just because you don’t like a smell doesn’t mean the product is bad. You also have to dilute some of these samples because the sensory notes also alter. When smelling essential oils, try them carefully on a piece of card as you shouldn’t be overwhelmed by them and it shouldn’t make you feel sick or fell like you are getting a headache.

My favourite oil is lavender – absolutely pure in my opinion and I put a small sample amongst my clothing in a diffuser. It doesn’t ruin the clothing by the way and I’m sure it helps keep out moths. I also like Rosemary and Eucalyptus for the same reasons – great for sore throats but to smell and not taste !

I’ve been suffering with a bad cold and sore throat. Last night I tried some of my wife’s oils which she had as a Christmas present because i have heard it helps clear the nose. If you add 6 to 8 drops of lavender oil along with a couple of drops of eucalyptus oil and 200ml of distilled water to a diffuser, you get a good nights sleep. I do not know how it works but it seems to be a trick to get rid of that nasty bunged up feeling.

Now I know that essential oils are good for relieving cold and flu symptoms. They are also good if you have been working in the garden and suffering from cramps and aches. Seem to give me a lift. These essential oils also act as a natural disinfectant and we add it to bottles of bland

The smell is quite poky. Radha have made sure the information on the bottles is as specific as possible. I am working right now with a clear nose because I have the lemongrass oil in a diffuser at the moment. I like the natural scents so all of them really find favour with me. I am not a great fan of rose or flowery smells so the eucalyptus, rosemary and tea tree seem masculine to me. Orange and peppermint are my wife’s favorite for the diffuser but it does seem to fill the house out.

Never use the oils directly on the skin. I certainly do not have the diffuser pointed directly at my face.

My wife thinks these smell wonderful. Her only criticism comes from the way the oils dispense from the bottle – getting one drop from the pipette is a bit tricky. She likes to mix and match to get the best perfume from her diffuser.

Hi – my wife really enjoys using these and compared to the other we’ve tried these are probably the best. The only issue I have is that there isn’t enough solution to get a significant quantity.
