Microplastics are still being used in a wide range of cosmetics, from facial scrubs and moisturising creams to eye makeup and lipstick.

In recent years, major cosmetics companies have replaced microbeads with alternatives with similar exfoliating properties, but these companies do not mention that there may be dozens of other types of liquid microplastics in their products.

They are too small to be captured through existing wastewater treatment processes, and wash straight into the ocean where they harm fish and other sea life.

Many beauty brands have already stopped using microplastics, but until a blanket ban comes into force, we’ve made things easy for you by selecting a range of products which are guaranteed microplastic-free.
