If you want your skin to have a healthy glow, exfoliating should be part of your skincare routine.

Exfoliation is a natural part of the skin cell cycle. It involves removing dead skin cells from the skins surface which makes way for new skin cells to generate.

As you age, this natural cycle slows down, which can lead to a build up of dead skin cells.

When dead skin cells accumulate this can make your complexion look dull.

Exfoliating products will speed up the natural skin cell cycle. There are two main types; chemical exfoliants and mechanical exfoliants.

Chemical exfoliants work by dissolving the “glue” that keeps dead skin cells stuck together and on the surface of the skin, allowing them to slough off. Alpha and beta hydroxy acids (AHAs and BHAs) are most commonly used. Fruit enzymes are also popular.

Products containing these can do more than just exfoliate, so they can be a a good way to get more bang for your buck!

Mechanical exfoliants work by physically scrubbing off the dead cells. The best products contain evenly-shaped particles, like jojoba beads, rice powder, or bamboo powder. These are less likely to damage the skin surface.

We offer a range of the best mechanical and chemical exfoliating products.
