How to Prepare A Vegetable Chow Mein

Vegetable chow mein is a tasty and nutritious noodle dish that is easy to make. Here’s a recipe to make it:

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz. chow mein noodles
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1 cup sliced bell peppers
  • 1 cup sliced carrots
  • 1 cup sliced cabbage
  • 1 cup bean sprouts
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (vegetarian oyster sauce or mushroom sauce for a vegetarian version)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Preparation:

  1. Cook the chow mein noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, and cornstarch. Set aside.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and stir-fry for about 30 seconds.
  4. Add the sliced mushrooms, bell peppers, carrots, and cabbage to the wok. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes or until the vegetables are tender but still crispy.
  5. Add the bean sprouts and cooked chow mein noodles to the wok. Stir-fry for 1-2 minutes to combine everything.
  6. Pour the soy sauce mixture over the noodles and vegetables. Stir-fry for another minute or until the sauce thickens and coats the noodles and vegetables evenly.
  7. Serve hot and enjoy your delicious vegetarian chow mein!

Note: Feel free to add or substitute any vegetables of your choice. You can also add tofu or other vegetarian protein sources if desired.
