Basic Biscotti Recipe
- Large mixing bowl

Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 3 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp almond extract
Preparation:
- Preparation (15 minutes):
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, beat the eggs, vanilla extract, and almond extract.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.
- First Bake (25 minutes):
- Divide the dough in half and shape each half into a log about 10 inches long and 2 inches wide.
- Place the logs on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for 10 minutes.
- Second Bake (15 minutes):
- Reduce oven temperature to 325°F (165°C).
- Cut the logs into 1/2-inch slices and place them cut side down on the baking sheet.
- Bake for an additional 15 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the biscotti are dry and crisp.
- Cooling (15 minutes):
- Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Total Time: 1 hour 10 minutes
Variations:
- Almond Biscotti
- Add 1 cup of chopped almonds to the basic dough.
- Chocolate Chip Biscotti
- Add 1 cup of mini chocolate chips to the basic dough.
- Cranberry Pistachio Biscotti
- Add 1/2 cup dried cranberries and 1/2 cup chopped pistachios to the basic dough.
- Lemon Poppy Seed Biscotti
- Add 1 tbsp lemon zest and 1 tbsp poppy seeds to the basic dough.
- Orange Almond Biscotti
- Add 1 tbsp orange zest and 1 cup chopped almonds to the basic dough.

- Add 1 cup shredded coconut to the basic dough.
