We have two to consider in the portfolio. The first is the very popular whey protein isolate and the second is  their WPI/amino-acid beverage.

(1) Whey Protein Isolate Powders

Zero Carb Whey Protein Isolate Powder in both vanilla, strawberry and chocolate flavours. Also look out for their unflavoured version which is the most popular version according to Amazon (data from sales: 5th May 2023).

Purchase this product.

The product is designed for muscle building without developing fat on the body. A portion is 30g and contains more than 25g of protein only from whey protein isolate. They claim to be 100 per cent lactose free which is an issue with other sports powders that use less refined whey protein sources. The product on average also contains 5.8g of branched chain amino-acids (BCAAs) in each 30g portion.

The unflavoured version will mix very well with other beverages or solid foods without skewing the flavour profile apart from lending extra mouthfeel. Makes for a very high-protein treat.

If you are keen on weight management, this product also meets your needs. It has zero carbs, sugar and fat so will support anyone watching their overall calorie intake. Only 100 calories per serving which makes it also suitable as a weight management product and is also keto-friendly too as well as being gluten and lactose free.

Additional Ingredients:

Sucralose is a common non-nutritive sweetener with a reasonably good sensory profile and suited to this type of protein. Soy lecithin helps in the solubilisation of the flavour in a solution where it is more commonly described as an emulsifier. It also produces a more creamy texture – you will certainly notice when a WPI product has no emulsifier because of its grainy texture and gritty mouthfeel.

There is a claim by the producers that the product is microfiltered. This process improves protein solubility when compared to other whey protein isolate products. It is likely in the process that they screen out using membrane filtration, any large protein masses which are insoluble leaving only protein fragments which will dissolve in water or other liquid relatively quickly.

(2) Isopure Plus 0 Carb – Zero Carb Protein Drink – Grape Frost

Isopure Plus 0 Carb - Zero Carb Protein Drink - Grape FrostA beverage with a sweet taste that is zero carb but contains 100% pure whey protein isolate as a 15g protein serving. It also has the eight essential amino acids. the formulation is fat free, cholesterol-free and of course carbohydrate free.

The vitamins, vitamin E is their as an antioxidant whilst niacinamide (vitamin B3) and pyridoxine (vitamin B6) are all essential for supporting energy metabolism.
