Air Fryers

If you like preparing fried food take a look at air fryers.

They are the latest kitchen appliance and extremely popular. They cook food by circulating hot air around it. Cooking relies on a convection method. They are in fact a smaller version of a convection oven. The mechanical fan circulates hot air round the food at high speed which cooks the food and produces a crispy layer on the surface due to Maillard browning reactions.

How Do These Air Fryers Operate ?

Here we have a range of appliances which are air fryers. The food is cooked in a cooking basket. the capacity of many is around 3.2 litres up to 5 and even 6 litres in some cases. That means they are ideal for family cooking rather than just cooking for couples. A 3.2 litre basket will comfortably cook enough fries let us say for 4 people. The  air fryer will heat up and cool like any conventional oven. Some like the Power Air Fryer XL 3.2 litre will heat up extremely quickly to 200°C/400°F. The food is often cooked 70 per cent faster than a larger conventional cooker which is some claim but there are plenty of reviews which are testament to this when chefs and home cooks have compared devices.

In terms of types of cooking, the airfryer will do at least five different cooking methods as well as air fry: grill, bake, saute, roast and steam.

Another remarkable benefit is the absence of excessive production of fat and the coatings are always crispy brown. There is a drip tray for excess fat in many so that removes that guilty feeling when saying you are frying tonight !
