Livistona chinensis

Livistona chinensis fruit is a traditional Chinese medicine widely used for treating hepatitis. The plant itself is known as the fountain palm or the Chinese fan palm.

The palm grows throughout the subtropics of east Asia. It is a native of Japan, Okinawa, various parts of southeastern China and Taiwan. In some Caribbean countries and the state of Florida it is a weed. In the UK it grows as an ornamental but is not hardy and requires frost protection.

Health Benefits Of Livistona

The flavonoids from the fruit were studied in mice. The fruit appears to protect against acute liver injury (Wu et al., 2019).
