Danalac Infant And Follow-On Formula – Milk Powders

All the milk powders are rich in at least 13 vitamins and 13 minerals. They also contain prebiotics which include GOS (galacto-oligosaccharides) and FOS (fructose-oligosaccharides) as well as DHA, ARA and nucleotides. Prebiotics help your baby with its general digestion and fighting off infection and dealing with inflammation. The brand uses goats milk because from the digestion point of view there are very few allergic reactions reported and stomach complaints such as bloating and diarrhoea are reduced considerably. It also produces softer curds in the stomach too – the presence of short and medium chain fatty acids means digestion is simpler and easier. The other major reason why goat’s milk is preferred is that it’s lower in lactose than cows milk. With less lactose to digest there is also less gas and farting.

So, their main selling point for the milk powders in general is to help babies deal with digestion issues where other infant formulas have not worked. The major claim is a promise that Danalac will come to the aid for your baby’s digestion.

The other major ingredients include taurine, choline, inositol, omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids. The inclusion of DHA and ARA means that brain and eye development are better supported with other help from iodine, iron and taurine. Folic acid’s inclusion is there because it maintains functional integrity of the nervous system and encourages better cell growth.

For some babies this can be their only source of nutrition for a baby although it must be stated from the outset that human breast milk is the best food for a baby. We have noticed that the powdered milk does not form clumps as much as the others.

The products for babies between 0 and 6 months are labelled Stage 1 baby milk powders. At this moment in time, the top rated product on most supermarket sites is the Advance Goat Milk Infant Formula Stage 1 Baby Milk Powder.

As with all their baby milk powder formulas, goat milk is preferred because it produces less allergenic and inflammatory reactions, contains less lactose and is much easier to digest accordingly.

The follow-on formula relies on a combination of the best nutrients.

The baby milk powders are used with a bottle. Danalac are very particular about make-up instructions. Scrupulous hygiene and cleaning are a necessity. The steps are:

  1. Sterilize all tableware necessary for the milk formula preparation and feeding.
  2. Boil drinking water for 10 minutes. Then let it cool to 37-40°С and fill in a feeding bottle according to the feeding chart.
  3. Add required milk formula using only the measuring spoon (not heaped) – according to the feeding chart.
  4. Shake the bottle well until the milk formula is fully dissolved.
  5. Check the temperature of the final milk formula by dropping on your inner wrist.

Important Notice: The  feed must also be prepared as and when it is needed. No made-up feeds should be stored and all unused baby milk when made up must be disposed of. The milk needs to be used within 2 hours to avoid bacterial contamination and growth. The powdered milk products when made up should not be heated  in a microwave because hot spots often appear and can scald the parent and baby. It is also important that no extra scoops or anything else is added to the baby’s feed. Of course, never leave a baby alone during feeding.

The Organic Baby Cereal range contains products such as Rice, Corn & Rice & Banana, Wheat & Apple and Oat Cereals.

The 5 Cereals is a product that now contains a formulation based on five cereals which are designed as a solid food for babies from 6 months and older. Some parents also add pieces of fruit but with care.

The method of making these cereals is very similar to porridge. The key steps are:-

  2. The required amount of cereal is measured into a bowl. Four level table-spoons are required for these cereal foods.
  3. The product is mixed with the required amount of boiled water but it could also include breast milk, adapted milk, tea, water or juice. Any heated liquids have to be cooled to at least 50°C.
  4. The cereal is thoroughly mixed with the liquid until an homogenous mass is produced.

Baby Biscuits is an important solid food designed as a snack for toddlers as well as babies from 6 months old. Solid food means that minerals such as iron and calcium can be more readily accommodated as well as particular vitamins. The flavours include natural, banana, apple and  cocoa.

The biscuits can also be soaked in warm water or a baby milk so that when soft they are spoon fed to the child. Danalac have cleverly created a crisp biscuit which dissolves readily in the mouth and is suitable for babies to chew on even without heir teeth having formed.
